Fowey family has had a busy spring term 2010, the term started with a Tag rugby festival where we had approximately 60 students participating. Every school that attended displayed fantastic knowledge in how to outwit their opponents through passing and running at angles to create maximum space. It was also equally rewarding to see the smaller schools within the family showing massive improvements in their final games of the festival expressing the learning that takes place during these fun events. Eventually it was Fowey Primary School that won the festival leaving only 2 points separating them from second place position Biscovey Juniors, both teams have been invited to compete in the CVOC county finals.
Fowey College sports leaders have been working extremely hard this term. This year we have 14 leaders that have been working within 3 primary schools. The sports leaders deliver fundamental movement skills to key stage 1 and 2, every leader displays confidence, organisational and leadership skills well beyond their years. The sports leaders spend a great deal of time writing lesson plans for these sessions delivering two 40 minute lessons that are enjoyed by every student that participates.
The Fowey College year 11 mixed netball team got through to the semi-finals of the under 16 County Netball Tournament held at Pool School last month. The team played 5 games in the group stages but lost out to the eventual winners, Mounts Bay in the semi-final.
Fowey College year 8 rugby team performed extremely well to make it to the semi-finals of the County 7's Tournament held at Penair School. The team made it through the group stages and met Newquay Tretherras in the quarter finals, Fowey battled hard to take the win. In the semi-finals the lads faced Truro School, unfortunately Fowey lost 19-17 in a game that could have gone either way.
Looking ahead towards the summer term Fowey family will be hitting the surf and preparing for the annual Par sports day.
